  16. DANCING BEAR ENTERPRISES ANNOUNCES MAiLBACK(tm), AN INTELLIGENT MAIL
  17. AGENT FOR NEXTSTEP( SYSTEMS

  19. KIHEI, HAWAII - Dancing Bear Enterprises today announced the
  20. availability of MAiLBACK, an intelligent mail agent for NEXTSTEP
  21. systems.
  22.  
  23. MAiLBACK automates many time-consuming and labor-intensive activities
  24. that delay communications and tie-up staff responding to routine
  25. information requests, rerouting incoming messages and maintaining
  26. email address lists. MAiLBACK provides more efficient email
  27. communications with less labor.

  29. MAiLBACK does not replace the current NeXT Mail system, it extends
  30. the system and adds powerful new functions that automate and manage
  31. email communications. MAiLBACK interacts directly with the underlying
  32. UNIX sendmail, providing document distribution, message routing
  33. and mail list management.

  35. Unlike World Wide Web and other current information distribution
  36. tools that are limited to users with "high-end" Internet capabilities
  37. and require skilled technicians to prepare on-line documents,
  38. MAiLBACK does not require special document preparation and is
  39. accessible from any system with email capabilities, even basic
  40. ASCII mail.  Internet connectivity is not required to use MAiLBACK.
  41. MAiLBACK can also be beneficial when used with internal email
  42. systems.

  44. Standard applications are used to create and maintain documents
  45. which are linked together in bundles, called iBundles. iBundles
  46. enable automatic, unattended distribution of information. Any email
  47. user can access these information bundles by simply sending an
  48. email message to MAiLBACK with the iBundle name on the subject
  49. line. MAiLBACK also accommodates the most sophisticated users,
  50. supporting the distribution of: text, image, and voice documents,
  51. either as text or as enclosures. Any document that can be emailed
  52. can be placed on-line in an iBundle.

  54. MAiLBACK also provides a Smart Router that can automatically direct
  55. incoming email messages based on address and subject. The Smart
  56. Router examines incoming mail messages to identify the proper
  57. destination and initiates actions based on the address and subject.
  58. Smart Router can be configured to forward messages to any email
  59. address, automatically create a log number and send a received
  60. receipt back to the requester. It can also send an iBundle to the
  61. requester.

  63. In addition, MAiLBACK simplifies the creation and management of
  64. email address lists. A text file address list can be dropped into
  65. MAiLBACK and it will be automatically segmented to comply with
  66. sendmail addressing limitations. Lists can be chained, un-chained,
  67. modified, imported and exported using simple point and click actions.

  69. MAiLBACK is currently available for NEXTSTEP/Motorola and NEXTSTEP/Intel
  70. compatible systems, release 3.2 or higher. HP version will be
  71. available by the end of February. List price is $249 with an
  72. introductory price of $199 through April 30, 1995. The educational
  73. price is $62.25.
